Going-on and Upcoming
The word Advent is from the Latin adventus for "coming" and is associated with the four weeks of preparation for Christmas.
Advent always contains four Sundays, beginning on the Sunday nearest the feast of St. Andrew the Apostle, (November 30) and continuing until December 24. It blends together a penitential spirit, very similar to Lent, a liturgical theme of preparation for the Second and Final Coming of the Lord, called the Parousia, and a joyful theme of getting ready for the Bethlehem event.
Since the 900s Advent has been considered the beginning of the Church year. This does not mean that Advent is the most important time of the year. Easter has always had this honor.
The traditional color of Advent is purple or violet which symbolizes the penitential spirit. Religious traditions associated with Advent express all these themes.
The Corporal Works of Mercy
- Give drink to the thirsty
The Spiritual Works of Mercy
- Instruct the ignorant (This and the next work are extremely pertinent categories today, when so many people are confused by what the Church teaches on contraception, abortion, homosexuality, etc.)
- Pray for the living and the dead
Pray for us, Oh Holy Mother of God ...
We rely solely on the donations of individual, business, and community organizations who understand the importance of the work we do helping women and their babies here at Guadalupe Pregnancy Services. Your donation is tax-deductible.

Dear Expectant Mother,
I hope that you find it in your heart to look past any doubts you may have. God loves you and he knows you are worthy to be a mother. Please remember you are not alone, so long as you keep him by your side. You will remain in my prayers forever and always.
With lots of Love,

Jesus is the Life of the world. "I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world.”
Our message is the Gospel of Life and the Sanctity of Life - that through Jesus Christ we are fed, we are nourished. He is with us in the eucharistic presence, body, blood, soul and divinity until the end of time. He is our life source. Our focus must be on Him, the Lord and Giver of Life; physical life and spiritual life. He takes care of us, our needs, our hunger, our yearnings, our problems, our doubts, our anxieties, our troubles. In Him and through him we are made whole, we are healed.
You don’t have to face your pregnancy alone. It is normal to feel scared when facing an unplanned pregnancy. If you need to talk or just need someone to listen, we are here for you. We have free, confidential pregnancy counseling for women and men of all ages. We are here for you!
Matthew 19:14: but Jesus said, "Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them; for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven."
Matthew 18:3: Jesus said, "Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.

2016 Year-End Benefit Dinner
Since its foundation in 2010 GPS-Guadalupe Pregnancy Services has held on to the framework of the Spiritual & Corporal Works of Mercy as the basis of providing "Compassionate Care" to the many women and men we serve. This Christian practice is the reason that we exist. It is the heartbeat of an all-volunteer staff. Love for LIFE motivates this practice to perfection.
The littlest feet make the biggest footprints in our hearts.
With much appreciation, we wish to thank Phil Sandoval, Immaculate Heart Radio Host, for spending time with our guests and our GPS Family at the "A Spirit of Mercy" Year-End Benefit Dinner on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at the Rosemead Community Center.
We were honored to have Fr. Stephen Watson O.C.D. start off the evening with his beautiful prayer invocation.
And we thank all our guests, benefactors, underwriters, client testimonies and all the volunteers who put so much of their time and talent into this wonderful year-end event!
During this Advent Season we desire that Our Lord and His Blessed Mother bestow grace and blessings upon you and all your holy undertakings!
